DESCRIPTION:In Parma\, in the splendid Palazzo del Governatore\, Saturday 13 January 2024 opens to the public Impronte. Noi e le piante \, unique exhibition that traces in more than 200 figurative objects (historical herbals\, botanical illustrations\, nature prints and xylographs\, as well as modern photographs and high-tech images) the relationship between humanity and nature\, botany and images\, science and art. \nToday the presentation at the Laboratorio Aperto of the St Paul’s Complex\, with speeches by the Rector Paolo Martelli\, of the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Parma Lorenzo Lavagetto\, of the Scientific Director of the Botanical Garden Renato Bruni\, Responsible for the scientific project of the exhibition\, the President of the Fondazione Cariparma Franco Magnani\, by the President of the Chiesi Group Alessandro Chiesi\, by the President of the Davines Group Davide Bollati. \nRealised by the University of Parma in collaboration with the Municipality of Parma and the support of the Cariparma Foundation\,Chiesi Group and Davines Group\, \nThe exhibition “Impronte” has 10 sections:\n1 The age of drawing – between decoration and study\n2 Scientific illustration – between aesthetics and identity\n3 At botany school – images of real knowledge\n4 The world of illustrators – a door to science\n5 The Parma Collections – an opening time capsule\n6 The age of technology – serial images and objectivity\n7 Photographs and new eyes – plants beyond the visible\n8 Plants and the world – interacting organisms\n9 Holistic images – beyond mere form\n10 Group photos – us and plants in the city\, in the fields\, in the woods. \nNumerous events will accompany the exhibition: \nWorkshops and guided tours\nScience and art to be seen\, known and experienced. Faithful to its vocation of openness and exchange with the public\, the University of Parma enriches the Impronte exhibition offer by organising a rich calendar of workshops (organised by Esperta) and guided tours (organised by Artificio). Fifty appointments – bookable through the University museum system – aimed at students young and old\, from primary to high school\, where they can have fun discovering all the secrets of the long history of botanical representation. Adults\, on the other hand\, will be able to take part in special guided tours at certain weekends\, to explore the themes dealt with in the ten sections of the exhibition in depth\, amidst anecdotes and curiosities. \nThe competition: Impronte OFF\nAn illustration competition open to young illustrators\, an exhibition/happening that will enrich the exhibition itinerary\, and two meetings outside the city to make the Botanical Garden of Parma known not only as a place of study but also as an innovative aggregative pole\, designed for the new generations. The Impronte Off programme – conceived by Interno Verde and promoted by the association “Parma\, io ci sto!” – will accompany the exhibition by involving students and professionals under 35\, thus helping to familiarise girls and boys with the role that the Botanical Garden will assume for the territory. The call for entries for the illustration competition\, based on the theme of fantastic botany\, will be published on Monday 18 December on the website www.internoverde.it and will remain open until Sunday 28 January.\nTen finalists will be selected to exhibit their works within Impronte. Further events aimed at exploring the potential of botanical representation will be organised between February and March in both Milan and Bologna. \n  \n“Impronte. SUMMARY:Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March: new events of the 'Impronte' exhibition
DESCRIPTION:From the very first days of opening\, Impronte. Noi e le piante  (noielepiante.it) captured the interest of a large audience of young and old\, enthusiasts and neophytes\, the curious and those in the know\, recounting the inextricable relationship between man and nature in an unprecedented\, accurate and original way. In the wake of the great interest\, the exhibition – realised by the University of Parma in collaboration with the Municipality of Parma and with the support of the Cariparma Foundation\, the Chiesi Group and the Davines Group – flanks didactic workshops and guided tours with a further calendar of special collateral and widespread initiatives. \nThe first events will take place during I Like Parma\, on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March. Preceded by a guided tour with the curator of the exhibition’s scientific project\, Renato Bruni (sold-out\, but bookable at this linkin case of cancellation of participants already on the list)\, the extraordinary time extension on Saturday will allow Impronte to be visited after the usual time\, until 10 p.m. (with last entry 30 minutes earlier)\, while on Sunday at 4.30 p.m. it will be possible to attend the fascinating meeting Visiting an exhibition from a seated position. Renato Bruni recounts the genesis of Impronte\, dedicated to botanical literature and a precious opportunity to immerse oneself in and explore the themes of the exhibition\, between scientific knowledge and humanistic sensitivity. \nThe same ingredients returning Friday 8 at 6 p.m. with the presentation of the book “Il dubbio e il desiderio” (Electa\, 2023) by Silvia Bencivelli\, which will retrace the main stages of the lively biography of Eva Mameli Calvino\, a botanist who lived between 1886 and 1978 and mother of Italo\, destined to become one of the protagonists of 20th century literature. In the Auditorium Mattioli of the Palazzo del Governatore\, the author\, journalist and populariser of science will talk to Renato Bruni about the figure of a woman capable of distinguishing herself in a field\, that of science\, which at the time was the prerogative of the male universe. \nThe children’s perspective will then be added to the conventional one with the event How plants see us\, and vice versa. On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.\, twenty students from the ‘Tourism’ course at ITC Bodoni in Parma will take on the special role of botanical guides\, telling stories and insights related to the materials on show in the rooms of Palazzo del Governatore. \nTurning to the big screen\, Thursday 21 at Cinema D’Azeglio at 6 p.m. is the screening of the documentary The Seed of the Future\, created to bring attention to the changes that the climate crisis is triggering in Alpine forests. One of the most passionate connoisseurs of this fragile and delicate ecosystem is the film’s protagonist\, scientist and forest management expert Giorgio Vacchiano\, who has returned to the Valle d’Aosta forests of his childhood in search of the keys to understanding the profound changes taking place there. together with Renato Bruni\, will be \nhe will outline considerations and possible solutions needed to safeguard our invaluable forest and woodland heritage. \nClosing the overview\, on Friday 22\, is a second presentation\, again in the Auditorium Mattioli. This time\, Stefano Mazzotti\, director of the Natural History Museum of Ferrara\, will be speaking\, joined by Renato Bruni and Davide Persico\, director of the Natural History Museum of the University of Parma. With him\, the public will be able to get to know the Marvelous Creatures (from the title of his book\, il Mulino\, 2024) that populate our planet\, ideally travelling to extraordinary places of unimaginable beauty\, from Papua New Guinea to Borneo\, from the Himalayas to the Mekong\, from Sri Lanka to Madagascar\, and on to the mountains of Tanzania\, gaining an ever greater awareness of the importance of protecting and preserving such wealth and diversity. \nThe programm Impronte Off – conceived by Interno Verde and promoted by the association ‘Parma\, io ci sto!’\, one of the highlights of which will be the proclamation of the winner of competition dedicated to Fantastic Botany\, Friday 1 March from 6 p.m. at Palazzo del Governatore – the Impronte programme expands with increasingly engaging and multidisciplinary initiatives. DESCRIPTION:Appointment of the 17th Lenz Festival Natura Dèi Teatriand part of the project MORFOLOGIE DEL PAESAGGIO _ REIDRATAZIONI DEL PRESENTE URBANOwith which Lenz regenerates the museum heritage of the University of Parma through contemporary visual and artistic language\, FÒRO FÒRO is the performance of the Eritrean artist Muna Mussie\, invited by Maria Federica Maestri and Francesco Pititto – a work inspired by the hank game analysed by Donna Haraway\, who recognises in the ‘figures of thread’ an analogy with processes of thought and creation\, pedagogical practices and cosmological performances. Creating thread figures means passing and receiving\, choosing threads or letting them go\, making and unmaking\, tracing and following a plot in the dark\, to inscribe other stories. \nFÒRO FÒROis the public event that follows the practices acted out in Verso l’immagine\, a workshop that puts blind and sighted people in dialogue through Braille and Embroidery\, two different languages but united by the imprinting of a surface\, revealing a tactile image. \nFor Lenz\, the artist will expose himself in the making and speaking of words\, alluding to the interchange between fòro\, an ancient place linked to the gathering of the community\, trade\, politics and justice\, and fóro\, which refers to a hole to enter and exit through. \nAfter a period of study at the Sala Bottego of the Museum of Natural History of the University of Parma\, the artist will conduct his residency at Lenz Teatro (via Pasubio 3/e Parma)\, where both the performance\, at 7 p.m. the 12 and 13 October\, both the research seminar DECOLONIZZARE IL MUSEO with free participation)\, at 4.30 p.m. on 13 October\, during which Muna Mussie will dialogue with scholar Sofia Bacchini of the Centro Studi Movimenti di Parma and L’Orientale University of Naples and with the Director of the Museum of Natural History of the University of Parma Davide Persico n how to reconstruct a curation of goods taken from non-Western subjectivities\, in an attempt to re-appropriate the Eritrean Bottego zoological collection through a decolonial analysis. \nMuna Mussie (Eritrea 1978) began her artistic career in 1998\, training and working as an actress and performer with Teatrino Clandestino and Teatro Valdoca. DESCRIPTION:“I was walking along the Po near Isola Serafini when my attention was drawn to something unusual. It was not a stone\, but a fragment of bone. So I found Acamar\, a cranial bone of a Palaeolithic man’. \nThis is the account of Prof. Davide Persico\, Professor of Palaeontology and Director of the Natural History Museum. A chance discovery\, thanks to a period of water crisis in the Po\, which gives us new perspectives on our history. \nFaced with the fossil\, the professor had no doubts. It was immediately clear that this was an important find. \n“The bone immediately caught my attention and I immediately confirmed that it was a very ancient find”. This is how Prof. Persico recalls his experience\, which dates back to last September.\nThe discovery took place in the Isola Serafini area (Monticelli d’Ongina) \nThe fossil is now at the Museum of Natural History\, which will ensure its preservation and coordinate the multidisciplinary study. \nThe research project\, called ‘ACAMAR‘\, will investigate the palaeoanthropology\, palaeogenetics and geochemistry of the precious artefact. It will take place in the coming months through a collaboration between the Superintendency\, the University of Parma\, the University of Milan\, the University of Bologna and the Paleoanthropological Museum of the Po in San Daniele Po \nAcamar\, the name chosen for the find\, comes from the name of the star that is part of the constellation Eridanus.

DESCRIPTION:Opened on Tuesday 30 May\, the exhibition of the Botanical Garden restoration and enhancement projects\, wide-ranging projects that aim to make the Botanical Garden of the University of Parma not only a renovated garden but a cultural\, environmental\, sustainable pole\, resource and reference point for the city and beyond. \nTwo interventions will affect the Botanical Garden area in the coming months: \nthe historic garden enhancement project\, financed under the PNRR project ‘Programmi per la valorizzare l’identità dei luoghi: parchi e giardini storici‘\, by the Ministry of Culture.The work\, which concerns the landscaping of the garden\, is aimed at respecting biodiversity while minimising water and energy management costs. The leitmotif of the intervention is consistency: the vegetation\, naturalistic and environmental needs of the plants prevail over other aspects and the entire garden must be able to act as a ‘botanical embassy’ of the area\, as a platform for dialogue to reinforce education in a non-anthropocentric observation of the world.\nThe project takes into utmost consideration the ecological and naturalistic requirements of the site\, minimising soil consumption and reducing the impact on the root systems in the garden. The work includes the resurfacing of paths\, the construction of an irrigation system\, the creation of new flower beds with low water requirements\, the landscaping of rockeries and wetlands\, and the building of a new greenhouse to display the succulent collection\, which cannot be visited today.\nThe project is by A+C_Architettura e Città Studio Associato \nThe project to restore the historic greenhouses and the Botany School\, which benefits from a fundamental impulse by ‘Parma\, io ci sto!‘\, is co-financed by the University of Parma\, the Ministry of University and Research\, the Cariparma Foundation and the Chiesi Group.\nThanks to sponsors\, the Ferdinandee Greenhouses (dating back to the end of the 18th century) and the 19th-century Botany School will be restored and reinstated. The latter building will house the historical herbarium collections\, the historical library and a small botanical museum. The Bourbon greenhouses will be restored to their original structures\, with the elimination of posthumous structures and a return to the original design of the Petitot School. The new installations will ensure maximum energy savings. The spaces will not only house plants\, but will be multifunctional buildings that can also be used for exhibitions and events. SUMMARY:Lenz for the University Museums: new performance on Tuesday 14 March
DESCRIPTION:The events in the University Museums continue with Morfologie del Paesaggio – Reidratazioni performative del presente urbano\, a collaborative project between Lenz Fondazione and the University of Parma to enhance the University’s museum spaces and collections with the creation of contemporary performance\, visual and sound environments\, curated and realised by Maria Federica Maestri and Francesco Pititto.. \nFrom 14 to 17 March\, at the Museum of Palaeontology\, it will be the turn of the video installation from NUMERI –second chapter of the SACRE SCRITTURE project performed by poet and actor Marcello Sambati. a powerful imagoturgy realised on the shores of the Po in dry weather during the torrid summer months\, which stands as an emblem of a reflection/action on the human being at the time of his greatest crisis and his lowest prospects for survival. \nThe enhancement of the landscape and museum heritage can be realised through experiences with a strong innovative character\, in a fruitful synergy capable of leveraging the artistic potential naturally inherent in spaces and places. The assets that make up the collections of the Museums of the University of Parma\, true treasures in the University buildings\, tell the story of knowledge\, of the approach to the various disciplines\, of discoveries\, of methods of investigation\, and represent a very important legacy from the point of view of both the historical and the scientific good. This is what the project by Lenz and the University of Parma is based on. \nAfter numerous experiences of scenic and performative reinterpretation in various monumental complexes (from the Reggia di Colorno to the Pilotta\, from the Parma Archaeological Museum to the Rocca di San Secondo and many other spaces\, including the Abbazia di Valserena\, seat of the Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione – CSAC of the University of Parma)\, with Morfologie del Paesaggio – Reidratazioni performative del presente urbano Lenz Fondazione continues to generate an aesthetic reactivation of historical heritage through contemporary artistic signs. \nIn the aesthetic and ethical vision of Maria Federica Maestriand Francesco Pititto\, artistic rehydration is capable of acting as a process of ‘restoration’ of buildings and the works they contain. In recounting the history of knowledge and research\, these assets represent an enormous cultural and scientific heritage available to the university and local community\, a priceless multidimensional encyclopaedia to be known\, used and discovered: also through new forms of immersive use\, which transfigure the place with the imaginative power of art. \nAfter a preview represented by the performance by and with Monica Barone UMANO\, DISUMANO\, POSTUMANO\, produced by Lenz Fondazione at the University’s Museum of Natural History in September 2022\, in 2023 the project enters the heart of a composite programme (from live performances to video installations\, from seminars to meetings with students\, from artistic residencies to streamed works) and branched out\, as it will take place in different locations: from the University’s main campus (with the Bottego Museum and the Philosophers’ Hall) to the Science and Technology Campus\, with the Palaeontology Museum\, and the Cloisters of the Paolotti University Library. \non 21 March\, International Day of Persons with Down Syndrome\, at 9 p.m. in the Aula dei Filosofi of the University of Parma’s headquarters\, will stage HAMLET SOLO\, a contemporary performative reworking of theAmleto by Shakespeare\, starring Barbara Voghera\, a sensitive actress with Down’s syndrome\, who has been a valuable identifying presence in the historic Lenz ensemble for over twenty years. \nROOMS/Introduction meetings to the scheduled works are scheduled for 1 March at 5 p.m. and 14 March at 4 p.m. at the Museum of Palaeontology on the Science and Technology Campus\, and 20 March at 5 p.m. in the Philosophers’ Hall at the University’s main campus. \nOn 5 and 6 July at 9 p.m. at the Chiostro dei Paolotti\, Monica Barone\, a dancer with a great performative sensitivity matured in her relationship with her own physical specificity\, will perform IPHIGENIA IN TAURIDE\,Lenz’s work the result of a triple inspiration: Goethe’s dramaIphigenie auf Tauris (1787)\, the work of GluckIphigénie en Tauride (1779) and the historic action of Joseph Beuys Titus-Iphigenie (1969). \nIn autumn\, the project will reach its final stage with the fourth action of the project BESTIARIO_FEMMINILE ANIMALE\, Natura Dèi Teatri 02\, hinged on the creation of artistic affinity or ‘kinship’ relationships with 12 female artists over the three-year period 22-24. SUMMARY:CSAC: open until 16 April the exhibition "Goliardo Padova. La forma del tormento".
DESCRIPTION:It will be open until 16 April for the exhibition ‘Goliardo Padova. La forma del tormento”\, curated by Giulia Castagnetti and Giulia Ferrari\, with which the CSAC once again reflects on the figure of an artist whose collection\, preserved in the archive itself\, counts almost four hundred works including canvases and drawings\, posters and engravings donated by his heirs. \nWith this exhibition\, the CSAC opens a series of exhibitions in the Sala delle Colonne\, characterised by common elements despite the diversity of themes\, topics\, authors and genres to which each is dedicated. All exhibitions generated by archival surveys conducted by staff working in the Centre combine the functions of archival preservation and management with those of heritage enhancement and knowledge dissemination. Mostre originali\, per i temi selezionati\, oppure per il taglio critico dato\, o per i materiali inediti scelti\, e mostre characterised by low environmental and financial impact designThe layout design\, graphics and actual realisation are also entirely conducted by the in-house technical staff\, with particular attention to the reuse of materials\, furniture\, supports and structures. \nThus\, an idea of cultural production that values design and implementation skills\, continuity between intellectual elaboration and operational and managerial implementation\, characteristics that have always been the heritage of the CSAC and the University. \nAs far back as 1985\, Arturo Carlo Quintavalle published an article entitled Goliardo Padova and European Expressionism\, outlining what is now intended to be the key that has guided the selection of a nucleus of works within the artist’s variegated corpus preserved at the CSAC. \nGoliardo Padova (Casalmaggiore\, CR\, 1909 – Parma 1979)\, after an education at the Art Institute in Parma and the Brera Academy of Fine Arts\, became involved in the most up-to-date Milanese cultural circles and became assistant professor to Guido Marussing at the Scuola Superiore per gli Artefici.\nHe experimented with and mastered a variety of artistic languages\, including decorative and architectural composition and advertising graphics. His field of choice\, however\, is easel painting\, in which the depiction of his homeland finds greater space. \nAfter an initial experience in close contact with the Novecento Group and the Milanese Chiaristi\, he arrived at a highly personal interpretation of reality. \nGoliardo Padova’s canvases have often been approached by critics\, due to an affinity of subjects treated\, to the group of so-called ‘last naturalists’ from the Po Valley\, as defined by Francesco Arcangeli in the pages of Paragone in 1954. \nAlthough there is no lack of references in Padua’s works to such close artists as Mattia Moreni\, Ennio Morlotti and others\, with La forma del tormento we wish to emphasise the great fascination that expressionist art has played in his career \nExpressionism\, in fact\, read and learnt in its various facets\, is for him a suitable means of giving voice to his own\, burning inner conflict. \nA first selection of works testifies to the early attention Padua paid to these languages as early as the 1930s and 1940s: the choice\, first and foremost\, of techniques such as woodcuts\, the hard\, decisive strokes in the figures that animate his prints\, bring to mind the direct taste for a form of primitivism so beloved of the German masters. \nIn 1943 came the great rupture that indelibly marked Padua\, as an artist but above all as a man: he was deported to Germany to a concentration camp from which he managed to escape four years later. \nA painful silence followed\, lasting almost a decade\, but it was in the subsequent return to painting\, mainly through the use of expressionist language\, that Padua was able to give voice to his torment. \nThe exhibition presents\, through five sections\, the fascination and admiration that Padua had for the great masters throughout his careerfrom Munch and Heckel to Kirchner via the Post-Impressionists and on to the European and American Informal\, resulting in an innovative and entirely personal reworking of contemporary language. \nGoliardo Padova.
