Luce. Scienza Cinema Arte
14 November 2015 – 17 January 2016
Palazzo del Governatore, Parma
On the occasion of the International Year of Light proclaimed by UNESCO for 2015, the University of Parma, with the co-organisation of the Municipality of Parma and IMEM-CNR and in synergy with numerous other subjects and institutions, proposes a large exhibition, curated by Luigi Allegri, to reflect on the variegated and multiform dimensions of light, physical-chemical, but also artistic and spectacular.
The exhibition will be divided into three sectors:
The exhibition, which is highly interactive in nature, aims to involve visitors in a journey that provides some fundamental physical concepts relating to electromagnetic radiation and illustrates the role of light in the biosphere, in the evolution of mankind, in technology and also in everyday life.
The exhibition aims to illustrate, through the display of numerous extraordinary apparatuses, the history of vision technologies that led to the birth and affirmation of cinema, from the oldest magic lanterns to the first projectors of the Lumière Brothers, from machines for special effects before the advent of digital to those for the construction of cartoons, from professional moviolas to film cameras and short-pitch projectors.
The theme of light has always fascinated artists who, expressing themselves through painting and sculpture, have often come to terms with the effects of light on chromatic or plastic matter. This section of the exhibition is divided into two venues.
In the Palazzo del Governatore section, curated by Cristina Casero with Jennifer Malvezzi, you can admire works by Vincenzo Agnetti, Andrea Aquilanti, Ferruccio Ascari e Gustavo Frigerio, Carlo Bernardini, Cioni Carpi, Maurizio Cattelan, Antonio Cavadini, Mario Cresci, Bruno Di Bello, Marco Di Giovanni, Andrea Granchi, Franco Grignani, Alice Guareschi, Kensuke Koike, Francesco La Fosca, Silvia Lelli, Marco Lodola, Claudia Losi, Paola Mattioli, Antonella Mazzoni, Nino Migliori, Ugo Mulas, Maurizio Nannucci, Germano Olivotto, Luca Patella, Concetto Pozzati, Antonio Rovaldi, Michele Sambin, Aldo Tagliaferro, Roberto Taroni, Giorgio Tentolini, Grazia Varisco, Luigi Veronesi, Silvio Wolf, Michele Zaza.
