The museum contains the instruments with which Melloni conducted pioneering research in the study and understanding of infrared radiation phenomena. Melloni’s experiments, cited by eminent scientists including Faraday and Planck, allow us to describe the still methodologically correct scientific basis he developed for understanding the infrared. Current research developments and applications highlight its importance in extremely diverse fields, from cosmology to applications in security technologies or the food industry.
