This is a large general herbarium prepared by pharmacist and apothecary Luigi Gardoni between 1836 and 1878.
Systematically arranged according to the dictates of the naturalist De Candolle, it consists of more than 200 files and 10,000 records of dried specimens both native and from European and non-European countries.
In addition to the herbarium, the collection, housed in our Botanical Garden, also includes 447 boxes containing seeds, roots, leaves, fruits, advertising materials, illustrations and book files and handwritten notes.
