
Wednesday 14 October at MUST: the first ‘MUseum Scientific Talk’
On Wednesday 14 October, from 4.00 pm, Lecture Theatre F – the MUST Auditorium at the University of Parma – will host the “Must – MUseum Scientific Talks”, a series of events dedicated to scientific research, museum conservation and biodiversity.
The event will open with official welcoming remarks and an introduction by Davide Persico, Director of MUST – the Museum of Natural History, who will launch a packed programme of talks focusing on the link between historical context and modern research techniques.
- 4.15 pm – Sara Turchetti (Master’s Degree Programme in Ethology and Ecology for Nature Conservation): The Bottego Eritrea Collection: a comparison of traditional and modern taxidermy techniques for the conservation of museum zoological collections.
- 4.45 pm – Clara Ziveri (Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Biology): Morphometric techniques for comparing museum specimens of Parnassius apollo from the Parma Apennines.
- 5.15 pm – Isabel De Rosa (Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Natural and Environmental Sciences): The conservation restoration of the fossil cetacean Cetotherium capellinii (Brandt, 1873) and the creation of the palaeontological section of the University of Parma’s new Museum of Natural History (MUST).
- 5.45 pm – Claudio Ferrari (Scvsa Department, Researcher at the IMC Foundation – joining remotely): The Shape of Water: Through Time, Habitats and Fish Communities.
The event will conclude at around 6.00 pm with closing remarks and a Q&A session.
This event offers an important opportunity to gain an insight into the work carried out by MUST to conserve and study our natural heritage.
The event is open to students, lecturers, researchers and any members of the public who are interested.
