Presentation of the book
Raccontare la Biodiversità – Scienze umane e musei naturalistici
by Elena Canadelli, Luca Tonetti and Tiziana N. Beltrame
Our guest, Elena Canadelli, will be in conversation with Renato Bruni and Davide Persico.
How do natural history museums engage with digital technologies and communicate biodiversity today?
The author presents her book “Raccontare la Biodiversità – Scienze umane e musei naturalistici” at an event exploring the connections between natural history, the humanities and digital tools. Through an exploration that weaves together scientific collections, material culture and technological innovation, the book offers a reflection on the role of museums as dynamic spaces for knowledge, dialogue and the interpretation of biodiversity.
From historical collections of herbariums and natural history specimens to the most advanced digital platforms, this book highlights how archives, libraries and contemporary tools help to shape new ecological and cultural perspectives, linking science, society and memory.
The presentation will take place in the MUST Auditorium, a new hall attached to the Museum of Natural History, a venue dedicated to public engagement, research and education.
The Museum and the botanical garden house valuable historical zoological and botanical collections, which bear witness to the richness of biodiversity and serve as key reference points for its future protection and conservation.
